“Malaika Interiors is our idea of home. We love this home of ours and built it with the sturdiest of principles.”

Alicia Myburgh decided to open an interior business in 2005. With half a century’s experience she felt it was time to implement her dream to help people create beautiful homes for themselves.

Malaika means Angel in Swahili, a beautiful language she knows from her time in Tanzania. It was here that her passion grew for the beautiful oriental carved furniture that now fills her shop in Somerset West.

When Malaika’s doors were opened she filled her shop with the beauty of India’s hand-made antiques, furniture, artefacts, smalls and home accessories. Every piece is hand-chosen with the greatest of care, highest quality in mind, unique and brought into the country to make your home all the more special. All our furniture is either Indian or Burmese teak.

In 2007 their home grew to such an extent, new walls had to found to fill with all its treasures. Malaika was moved to the Interchange, Somerset West, across from the Builder’s Warehouse.

Since then Malaika has entered into a venture with Incanda Furniture, manufacturing and supplying top quality leather furniture to all their clients. Furniture is made with the highest level of quality in mind.

From February 2009 Alicia realised there was a part of the interior home market that wasn’t being catered for. As such she has started making custom furniture for all her clients. From a mere idea, picture or drawing, this experienced owner can have any piece of furniture made from all solid woods on the market. From sleeperwood, oak, African mahogany to teak, customers are given their own dream furniture.

Malaika Interiors will always strive to supply their customers with every element they wish to fill their house with to make it a home.
